From basketball to football to skateboarding there is an outdoor adventure with your name on it made possible through Vancouver Parks and Recreation. Some of the sports are co-ed, and the hope is that you find that challenge you are looking for.

The Defense Arts of Portland offers traditional martial arts and modern self defense classes. Group and private lessons are offered for teenagers in addition to other age groups. Classes focus on the mental and physical skills to provide youth the confidence and capacity to become the individuals they strive to be. The organization works to build community and belonging among the youth who participate in the program.

The Portland Rock Gym (PRG) offers instruction for climbers 12 years of age or older. For example, the Intro Class teaches about the basics of climbing and rope-handling, including tying a figure-of-eight knot, climbing commands, and belaying. The class will prepare a person to belay a climber on top-rope and pass the PRG’s belay test. The class includes rental equipment and a one-week membership (with rentals).

The Seeds of Euphoria is meant for teen women, and it is there to offer self-esteem, empowerment, and education through dance. The dance classes are offered in afterschool programs in addition to intensive dance camps in Portland, Oregon. The programs are for ages 14-18. The types of dance classes offered include Improvisational Tribal Style (ITS) belly dance, talking circles, expressive art, journal writing, and presentations.
