The Do Something Awards go to those who have a plan for making positive change in a community or even the world! Do you have a cause or issue you would like to support? Do you have a creative idea about how that may happen? The plan you put forth may win an award worth $10,000.00 or even $100,000.00. If you are 25 and under you may enter to win an award, and the five Nominees and one Grand Prize Winner will all receive community grants. Although the current application cycle is now over, it is never too early to start planning for next year. There are also $500.00 seed grants and growth grants available for request on a continual basis.

The YOUthFILM Project is your chance to show off your artistic talents on the big screen and also to win fantastic prizes. The idea is that you produce a short film on civics issues, which are then screened for the public at the Hollywood Threatre in Northeast Portland during Community Law Week. Prizes are awarded at the screening by honorary guests, including the Oregon Supreme Court Chief Justice Paul J. De Muniz. Visit the YOUthFILM Project website to learn more about registering to enter your own film.

Keep your eyes open for the Fall Writing Contest at the Fort Vancouver Regional Library. It is never too early to start planning for next year, and you may be the next literary talent waiting to be found out. If you meet the eligibility requirements and want to see your work published, then why not enter and see what happens. Maybe you are just another mystery waiting to happen.

The Alliance Francaise, the Rotary Club Paris Académies, and the American Association of Teachers of French (AATF) have partnered to offer special prizes for the Annual French Contest. The contest is conducted by AATF teachers for students in high school level French courses, and is based on testing to occur this month. The winning student and a guardian/parent will get to spend a week in Paris, and the prize includes two roundtrip tickets on Air France, and a one-week course at the Alliance in Paris.
