Ever since I could walk, ever since I could talk, theatre has been my passion. The spotlight called out to me at a very young age. My mother helped me with my love by taking me to various auditions and enrolling me in dance classes as soon as I was old enough to ask. My infatuation with being on stage and in front of cameras has steadily increased, and each day I am becoming a better performer. Though each experience has been different, several aspects of the “business” remain the same.
Auditions. Ask any actor/singer/dancer how they feel about auditions and you are likely to get the same two words: nerve-racking. I would almost compare the feeling to that of a bungee jumper or adrenaline seeker. The second the director gives you the go ahead, everything you have goes into your performance. Every ounce of training, experience, and love goes into your audition. Your only goal is to convince this person that you are meant for that position. In contrast to the trying conditions of an audition, the euphoria felt when you land a role is indescribable. I have been very fortunate to land many of the roles I have tried out for, but that doesn’t mean it has lost any value. Each audition experience is different and each yes or no brings out totally different emotions.
No one has the ability to make you go farther than yourself, so get motivated, get out there, and get started!
While the feelings experienced during a casting call are extreme in both directions, nothing compares to being on stage or having the camera come on. for me, as soon as the lights come up, I feel at home. It is evident to anyone watching that performing is what I am meant to be doing. I suddenly grow a couple of inches, and I suddenly am much more poised and confident than I was five seconds ago. There is absolutely no where in the world I can find more happiness than in front of an audience. There is no better feeling than having them laugh or cry with me. As a performer, I have the ability to influence people’s emotions so much and when I do, there is such a feeling of accomplishment. That’s what my goal is as an actress and singer.
My whole life I have been in this industry and yet I still have so much I can do to make a landmark. Being in the entertainment industry can be very difficult if you’re not a strong willed and minded person. I know that I will be knocked down but I also know that I can get right back up again because there is so many goals I need to accomplish. My love for this keeps me motivated and keeps me excited about the next day. Nothing can ever compare to the joy that singing, acting, and dancing brings to my life and that’s how I know it’s something I will be doing the rest of my life.
I think it’s important that no matter what your passion or dreams may be, you go for it with all you have. No matter who attempts to tell you otherwise, anyone can live out their dreams. All you need is a genuine want and willingness to put yourself on the line every now and then. As soon as you want something bad enough, nobody and nothing can stand in your way. I strongly believe that working on your talent and working towards your dreams just a little bit each day will deliver great results and ultimately success. No one has the ability to make you go farther than yourself, so get motivated, get out there, and get started!
